Meet the artist...

Biography

Romy is a professional artist who has worked in both the commercial and fine art fields for over 15 years. Having had no formal arts training she works in a variety of mediums - painting, photography, and even fiber arts.

"Through my art I try to convey the beauty and simplicity of the natural world... as our lives grow more hectic, complicated, and technologically advanced, I find myself longing for the simpler things in life.

So through art, I try to give the viewer not only a positive place to escape to for a moment, but a space to explore their own personal connection with the natural world."

Romy's paintings and photographs reside in private homes around the world.

Inspiration

The natural world and its energy are what inspires me most. Anything from the way the leaves shimmer in a gentle breeze to the grand display of colors as the setting sun spreads across the sky each evening.

About my painting technique

When I start a painting I usually have an image in mind. Either from experience or sometimes from dreams. Viewers are often surprised to learn that I don't mix colors on a palette, but directly on the canvas as I'm painting. At the same time I create many layers of paint to bring out the depth and add dimension to the piece. This truly creates a unique painting that even I couldn't make an exact re-creation of... only a similar painting.

"I believe its important for people to own ORIGINAL art, its a tangible piece of our collective culture and experience. Through my studio we only sell original paintings, not mass produced giclees or any other reproduction methods that can be confused for an "original" painting.

Remember buying art isn't like buying a mass made product. Hand made art is "unique." When you acquire an artwork from an artist, that piece represents the tangible form of the visions, energy, and emotions of that artist. Artists transform the intangible into the tangible for all of us to enjoy. "
